First Day of Pre-K

Thursday was Isabel's first day of Pre-K!! This year she is going two days a week from 9-1, so she will get to eat her lunch at school! Just like a big girl! She was very excited the whole week, and couldn't wait for the first day. She had a school supply list this year, and we bought the supplies a couple of weeks ago. Everytime we've had company since then, she's sat them on the couch and brought out the bag of school supplies to show them.

The night before, we packed up her first school lunch......

and put it in the refrigerator.

Next, we loaded up her backpack with all of the shiny new supplies!

And then we picked out the first day of school outfit....

With a little help from Gabe.

And, finally, we did a mani-pedi!

The next morning, we got up, got ready, and headed to school! When we got to Isabel's classroom, she put her bag on her hook, and put all her supplies away where they go and then she took off to explore the many things to do. I was begining to think that she was going to let me leave without a problem. We let her play for another minute or two and then I went over to tell her that we were leaving. She immediately started to cry and cling to me. Isabel's cousin, Ethan, is in her class this year, so I told her that if she was feeling lonely she should find Ethan and stay with him for a little while. She nodded her head, but wasn't willing to give it a try right then so I ended up having to leave her in the middle of the room by herself. (Not good for my maternal guilt) I made sure the teacher knew I was leaving and Isabel was crying, and I hung out in the hall for a few minutes to make sure she was ok. After only a few minutes she was happy and smiling at the teacher's side. When I picked her up she was all smiles and couldn't wait to tell me about her first day!! I feel confident that it will get better and better every time and before we know it she'll be running in and waving goodbye.
