32 Weeks

We went to see Merrie again last Thursday. We went to Merrie's office this time since I had bloodwork to do. While we were there I had Merrie do another (and probably final) ultrasound to see what the baby was doing in there and to measure him to see if he is the giant I think he is. It appears as though he is mostly head down at this point. He was a little bit diagonal, but his head was very low and Merrie says he is on his way!! He was pretty calm while we were looking at him, so we got some good shots of him swallowing and sucking and moving his tongue in and out of his mouth. He was also making breathing movements. We could see his chest going up and down. It also looks as though he has some chubby cheeks!! We can't wait to see him!! He is getting so big now that his head pretty much took up the whole screen. We could only see bits and pieces of him at a time! We were able to see his cord (which is nowhere near his neck :)!!!!) and he is definitely, absolutely, 100% a boy!! Merrie did a few measurements on different parts of his body and he is measuring 32 weeks which is right on schedule. So, he is not a big baby. THANK GOODNESS!!!!!! I was very happy to hear that. My belly is only measuring 1 week ahead now, so that is good news as well. I had bloodwork done also. Only 2 viles this time instead of like 6. We got the results back the next day and it showed that my protein levels and my blood sugar are both very low. So, Merrie has told me that I need to have a protein shake, a protein bar, or two eggs every day. That shouldn't be too hard to accomplish. Apparently boys suck the protein right out of you, so low protein is very common when carrying a boy. To solve the low blood sugar issue, I have been told not to go more than 3 hours without eating something and not to eat things that have too much sugar in them. So, another good appointment. I'll see Merrie again a week from today.

This is a profle shot of the baby. On the right side of the picture is his face. You can see his nose and lips and eye sockets. You can also see the round bubbles that are his cheeks!!

We've been busy gathering all of our birth supplies. Only a couple of things left on the list to get. I pulled the car seat, bouncer, and swing out of cobwebs yesterday and washed them up, so they are all ready to be used. We only have to paint the baby's room and it will be complete. We'll be doing that in the next week or two. I will stop working on August 17, so that means only another 4 weeks of work. I decided to stop working about a month before my due date so that I can spend some quality time with Isabel before the baby comes. We have been taking swimming lessons together this month, and I'm trying to think of some other activities we can do together once I'm off work. I'm sure something will come to me!

BABY THIS WEEK >>> By now, your baby is just shy of 4 pounds and is nearly 17 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth
