Cereal and Rolling Over

Well, this weekend was a big one for Gabriel! We had been planning to wait until he was about 6 months old to start him on cereal. Breastfeeding has been going well for us and Gabe is growing wonderfully on milk alone .. even the pediatrician told us we would be fine waiting until 6 months. Well, Gabriel had other things in mind. He has been showing an increasing interest in food and seems to be ready earlier than we thought he would be. So, this weekend we finally pulled the high chair out of the basement and put it to use. Gabe loved his cereal!! He opened his mouth the first time he saw the spoon coming toward him and kept opening it for more after that. By the end he was grabbing my hand and pulling it toward his mouth because he was so excited to eat more. I can't say that I'm surprised ... he has always LOVED to eat!! I am hoping that this is going to give me a little more freedom to go out and be gone longer.

Gabe also learned to roll over from his back to his tummy this weekend. He has been rolling from tummy to back for awhile now, but has just figured out he can go the other way too. Yesterday, I put him on the floor to play on his playmat and I turned my head and when I turned back around he was on his tummy. This morning, I put him on the floor to play on his back and a few minutes later he was on his tummy. Then a few more minutes later he was back on his back and then onto his tummy again. I think it is safe to say he has gotten the hang of it and I need to start baby-proofing the house.
