Wishful Thinking

Last week, Gabe was talking an awful lot about sitting on the potty. He'd tell us he had to go to the bathroom and then talk about sitting on the potty. One Sunday afternoon we decided to just put him on it and see what happened. At first he was not too sure he wanted to be on the potty. He kept saying "No no" and "all done". Despite his protests, we left him on there and eventually the nervousness passed. He began to kind of like it and was getting very curious about where he was. He kept turning around to see behind him. After a few minutes Joel and I decided that it might be better if he was alone in there and no one was putting pressure on him. He is a man who likes his privacy, after all. So, we stepped out into the bedroom and pretended that we weren't looking at him. Not a minute later, we began to hear grunts from the bathroom! Yes, that's right, our little Gabe did his first poopy in the potty at 18 months!!!!! He was very curious and kept looking behind him as if to see where it was going and then when he was done he was so proud!! We've been putting him on the potty ever since and he hasn't produced anything since that day, but we are very hopeful that this means that he will potty train early and easily!!
