Pool Days

We stayed pretty close to "home" our first couple of days in California. We had just spent two days in a car, we wanted to be free of that for a little while! My Aunt Susie has a pool conveniently located in her backyard, so we spent our first few days being lazy by the pool. The kids really loved it! Gabe had never really been in a pool before and he was a little bit skittish at first, but he realized pretty quickly that floating around the pool on a raft was a lot of fun! He even comissioned a couple of rowers. Isabel was a little more independent. We brought a life vest along with us, but she was not happy about putting it on. I think she felt like it was more of a burden to her than a help. We insisted and after awhile she began to really enjoy it. She started out by hanging on to one of us, but was soon paddling around the pool on her own and even jumping in all by herself. She even got brave enough to go under the water! She was a regular fish by the time we left.

The adults had a great time too. Candice and I worked on our tans (which turned out fabulously, by the way) and the guys had water gun fights. Aunt Susie even talked Joel and Druh into trying out her water weights!! I'm just sorry all of you missed that ....... it was quite a sight.
