A few weeks ago, we went to the apple farm with Joel's brother and his family. I'm not sure that we'll be able to have our Annual Apple Picking Party this year because 1.) we are moving to a new house this week and by the time things settle down apple season will be over and 2.) the apples on our tree had major hail damage and are barely edible. We decided to go ahead and go now to scope things out at the apple farm and we figured that if we do decide to do our party then we'll just go again later in the fall. So, we drove to Penrose, CO with lunch and kids in tow. When we got there 1.) the place was crawling with bees and having just been stung by a bee for the first time a few weeks prior I was FREAKED out and 2.) it was hotter than the hinges of hell that day!!! So, we unpacked and repacked and unpacked lunch again trying to find a place that had the fewest number of bees. We would have liked to pack the kids up right after lunch, but we did promise that there would be apple picking so we let them each pick 1 apple .... we had so little that they didn't even charge us because it wasn't worth weighing :) ... and then we headed home. It took us 45 minutes to get to the apple farm and I think we MIGHT have been at the apple farm for about that long. We usually wait until October to visit the apple farm and now I see the wisdom in that decision. We will not be going back before October next year!!!!! Well, despite the hot weather and the invasion of the bees we did get a few good pictures that day .....
