Men At Work

This weekend we had a yard sale. A loathsome task, but a necessary one. When we moved to the house we are in now, we had to give up our full, unfinished basement which meant we had to give up free storage! Whatever we didn't get rid of had to go to a real storage unit a few minutes from our house. Most of the contents of the storage unit were baby items. I had saved EVERYTHING from when Isabel and Gabe were babies. I knew I wanted another baby and I was sure I could convince Joel to have another one so I didn't get rid of anything! (This was one of my selling points: Honey, we already have everything we need!!) When we found out we were having a boy I started going through everything in the storage unit and weeding out all of the girl stuff. I let several friends look through the clothes and gave them whatever they found that they wanted and then we planned to have a yard sale to try to sell the rest of the baby items we didn't need.

On Saturday, Joel and I spent the whole day outside in the driveway manning the yard sale! We actually sold all of our big items and a bunch of the clothes and made $85!! As exciting as the money-making was, it was slow and intermittent and we got kind of bored just sitting in our driveway waiting for people to come. So, Joel decided to repaint Isabel's old tricycle for Gabe. We were given this tricycle by a friend and it was pink and purple and beautiful! However, Isabel was way to big for it and Gabe loves riding it. We decided a few weeks back that instead of getting rid of it and buying a new one for Gabe, we'd spray paint it and make it into a boy bike!!! We took Gabe to Walmart and let him pick out the color he wanted and we were just waiting for a nice weekend to get the work done! Joel took the bike apart and painted it on Saturday while we waiting for our customers to come along and then on Sunday he and Gabe worked together to put the bike back together.

Notice the tool box next to Gabe. When Joel told him that they were going to put his bike back together he immediately went and got his toolbox and said he was going to need his hammers and his "gaggles"(goggles).

He's ready to help!

All done!

Daddy was very tired.
