Pregnancy, Pants, and Playhouses

Well, this is the last week of my first trimester and I say "good ridance!" I've been sick and tired and when I look back at the last couple of months I can't remember anything good about them. I have actually lost weight during this trimester. I have never lost weight during a pregnancy before ... I'm usually a champion weight GAINER. The last couple of weeks have been particulartly bad as far as the morning sickness goes. I just saw Merrie on Monday and we talked for a long time about what I can do to help myself not to feel so icky all the time. One of the things I need to be better at is eating. I need to eat often and I need to make sure I'm having protein when I eat. Mostly anything with protein in it hasn't sounded good so I avoid it in fear of regurgitation. My new mantra has become "if it's good for baby, then choke it down!" Also, I've gotten myself some ginger tea to help with the nausea. Now this tastes like chinese food in a cup and it burns a little on the way down, but it does seem to settle my stomach. Also, I've had some wicked heartburn and indigestion and I'm now taking chewable papaya with my meals to help with that. Surprisingly, I've been feeling good since I saw Merrie a couple of days ago and started my new regimen. I'm hoping that it sticks and I don't go back to the yucks!

I have a small baby bump now. Well, I know it's baby, but to the rest of the world it looks like a killer muffin top! I dragged out the maternity pants in hopes of finding something that was more comfortable than a rubber band around my jeans button. A combination of starting this pregnancy smaller than the previous one and the weight loss made fitting into my maternity pants impossible. They fall right off. So, I was forced to buy myself a couple pairs of new, smaller maternity pants. I have severe guilt about this since I have boxes of perfectly good maternity pants already and these new pants will probably only fit me for a little while, but I did my best to buy pants that would go the distance. I am still wearing regular-people shirts. Maternity shirts look like tents on me still. Probably about another 6 weeks until we find out what we're having!! I'm still feeling strongly that it's a girl ... we shall see!

In other news: I have revived the Playhouse Project of 2010!!!! I had decided, in September, to go ahead and give the kids the playhouse for Christmas. I figured that would give me plenty of time to finish it and make it fantastic! Well, then life happened and I started doing some work from home for my mom ..... I was working with deadlines and large amounts of work and this completely consumed me for about 2 months. Also, we moved and I got pregnant and wasn't feeling good and before I knew it it was November and I hadn't touched my playhouse in months. So, my work-from-home wound down in mid-November, I took a week or so to do nothing and then I devoted myself to finishing the playhouse. I've been working steadily for a couple of weeks now and I think I'll have it done in time for it to make it onto Santa's sleigh!!! I've actually really enjoyed working on it and I think I'll be so proud when it's all done! My sewing has much to be desired ... there are several seams where you can tell that the sewing maching got away from me, but through the eyes of a 3 and 6 year old, the playhouse is pretty awesome!! Plus, I can go back later and fix those things that didn't come out just right. I'm putting some finishing touches on tonight and then tomorrow I'll be sewing the panels together!!! I'll post pictures when I get it all done!
