3rd Trimester .. Here I Come!!

We had another appointment today! Merrie came to our house to visit us and I had my whole check up in the comfort of my living room! I never thought I'd see the day when I had to pee in a cup in my own bathroom. Anyway, everything is looking great! The baby does not appear to be head-down yet, but Merrie said that is not unusual. They usually turn anytime from now to 34 weeks. She thought she could feel his butt on my left side! He was swimming around as usual and it took a couple of minutes to find his heartbeat because he would not sit still! When we did find it, it was in the 140's and 150's ... depending on how active he was at that moment! My uterus is still measuring a little bit big, but Merrie said it is absolutely nothing to worry about. And it is not as many weeks ahead as it was last time so it seems to be tapering off some. Merrie said there are several explanations for why I might be measuring big. The most obvious being that the baby is big. She said it could also have to do with the amount of fluid I have in my amniotic sac (I had A LOT with Isabel). It could also be that I am carrying high, but when he turns head down things will drop a bit and the top of my uterus won't be so high up. Also likely since I can feel my ribs running into him all the time. I'm basically head, boobs, and belly at this point! I can't say it's comfortable, but the end is drawing near! I will be 28 weeks on Thursday and that will officially start my third trimester! I will now see Merrie every 2 weeks. She is going to see me at my house again next time and then I will see her at her office again for some lab work and the making of our emergency plan .... which we will not have to use!! :) I will also be getting my supply list so that we will be sure to have all the things we need for when I go into labor. We are so close to choosing a name that I can taste it! We have a couple more considerations to go through and then he'll have a name! I can't wait. I am working on getting the room cleaned out and we are hoping to have the crib up in the next week or so. Then we will start painting and decorating! I am starting to feel a little pressed since we only have 3 months left and I have nothing set up for him yet, but I know we will get it done. Once we get the room cleaned out, things will move fast and smoothly from there. We just can't wait!
Isabel is also getting very excited. She is constantly kissing my belly and wants to be right in the middle of everything that involves the baby. This weekend she picked out a blue puppy dog to give to the baby when he comes and she tries his clothes on regularly! She can frequently be heard saying she wants the new baby to come out right now!!!!!!!!!! I am not worried in the least about how she will adjust. She is going to love this baby and have fun helping us care for and nurture him!!

27 WEEKS .... This week your baby weighs almost 2 pounds and is about 14.4 inches long with his legs extended. He can now open and close his eyes, and he sleeps and wakes at regular intervals. He may suck his fingers, and although his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with assistance — if he were to be born prematurely. Chalk up any rhythmic movement you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and isn't bothersome to him, so enjoy the tickle. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. Wonder what he's thinking?
