A couple of weeks ago, Joel and his brother Paul drove to Kentucky to see some family. They stayed for a few days and then drove back home and brought their cousin Caitlin with them. Caitlin is their one and only cousin. Coming from a family of 60+ people on each side, this is a bit shocking for me. Weren't holidays boring? Who did you play with when you were kids? Well, they manged to get through their childhoods with only one cousin and we were excited to have her here with us for a couple of weeks. Each of Joel's siblings was able to have Caitlin for a whole day all to ourselves during her visit. We started our day out by driving to Woodland Park for donuts at the famous Donut Mill. The donuts were fabulous and the coffee was great!! Caitlin was actually born in Florissent, about a 15 minute drive from Woodland Park, so we did our darndest to find the house so Caitlin could see where she was born. We were unsuccessful in finding the house, but we did find the neighborhood and we managed to see some of the local wildlife while we were there. The kids thought this was very cool!!! After our trek we took Caitlin to Garden of the Gods to see the rock formations. It was pretty cool and it gave the kids a change to stretch their legs. After Garden of the Gods we went home and just hung out for the rest of the day. It was a great day!!! Caitlin is so much fun and we loved having her with us for the whole day! She even taught me how to text so that it didn't take me 15 minutes to write a single sentence. Thanks for bringing me into the 21st century, Caitlin!
Watch for more on Caitlin's visit in the coming weeks.
